Wirecast roadmap for 2012 published

by Tim 'eagle' Brugman on April 25, 2012

Last night Telestream uncovered their Wirecast plans for 2012. Although Telestream alludes this is not the full list of updates we can see this year there is not much to be exited about.

What’s vaguely described as ‘enhanced production capabilities’ is the only bullet point that could potentially give Wirecast another much needed unique selling point when compared to XSplit. The virtual camera output and RTSP-in support are nice but only help with making up the distance they are behind, not jump ahead.

The full roadmap as published:

Wirecast 4.1.4 – May

  • New presets
  • New streaming destinations
  • Fine-tuning under the hood to streamline to where Wirecast is going (sorry to be vague, but we can’t tell you everything!)
  • Numerous bug fixes & improvements

This summer

  • Virtual Camera output

Q3

  • RTSP Input support

Q4

  • Enhanced production capabilities
  • UI improvements

  • They really need to do some work to catch up. Not much has happened for a loong while. Not many of the new additions are something I’m looking forward to beyond the obvious things as UI improvements and bug fixes.
